Default Classic/Newage Lamba Sensor

Hello my 2002 wrx front lamba sensor as thrown up a fault code. I taken it out as it looks like the wire as melted.

My mate who owns a garage says he has got a 4 wire original one, the orignal has the same colour wires and same plug but the wire is a shorter lenth to my one. I think it may be off a classic. So could i use this one?

Also he has a 4 wire universal one. (2x white wires = heater, 1x Grey = earth, Black = signal). but my original has (2x black wires, 1x blue, 1x white) Does any one know which wire is which on the orignal so i can connect the plug to the universal one.

I have also looked at new replacements but i am short on money at the moment so can not get one, so any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Mate,

just solder it back together, I did with mine and didn't cost a penny.

I cannot solder it back, because it has melted right on the end. Where it connects to the sensor

and you wont be able to solder it anyway, the wires are stainless steel.

Newage cars use a wideband (front) sensor, classics (and universal sensors) are 2 point switching so cannot be used as a replacement.

I soldered mine ok.

Put some heatshrink around it aswell and its been like that for 2 years.

Unless I put that much solder on it, the solder is casing the wire together.
