how much would i be looking for a set of HID's, around 100 mark?

Wouldn't it make any difference if i put some new bulbs in or something mate?

I doubt bulbs will make as much of an impact as HID's will.

I got mine locally for £50, the prices vary wildly (as do the claims mine are better than yours lol)

You pays your money you take your chance......

Ive got the 4300k kit on mine, which is more than enough. There is some suggestion that the 6000k kit may result in an MOT failure and may dazzle other road users...

This old chestnut again.

4300K and 6000K refer to the colour temperature of the "bulbs" NOT the brightness.

4300K is bright white, 6000K is a bit blue...in fact, BECAUSE of the blue tint, there is less USABLE light, so they are, in fact, slightly LESS bright than 4300K
If you want to see, choose 4300K. If you want to be SEEN, go for 6000K or more.

And it's the colour that failed the MOT! Too Blue and you will not pass and run the risk of being pulled by an overzealous Plod for I kid you not 'impersonating a police officer'!

4300k is pure white and provides the most amount of visible light.

6000k is white with a slight blue tint.

Neither would be a problem for MOTs or cause any dazzle.

6000k is more noticeable on a car, whereas the 4300k looks normal. Both are a great upgrade.
