Clutch issue when warm
Hello everyone!
Recently picked up a 96 for a bargain! Everything seems to be OK, except for the clutch.
When the car is cold, the clutch is well behaved, and I can feather her without any problems. As the car starts to warm up though, the clutch becomes "grabby", in that it is only one or off - and I can not feather it at all. If I try to, it judders.
Can not tell you if this is a std clutch, how old it is, or anything about it, as I have no idea, but I can tell you that is has a very very high grab point.
Any input as to why this is going on would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey. Im sure you will have lots of replies from people who know a lot more about this than me but i had a similar problem a few years ago. I was changing the gearbox anyway so i had the flywheel skimmed as i could only guess that it was slightly warped. Turned out that it was slightly and apparently its a common problem. I think some people also say about upgrading the clutch fluid too. You might also find that the clutch is on its last legs too. Either way i think people will advise you to change the fluid first. Failing that...... Gearbox out... clutch off.... flywheel off. A new clutch is pretty pricey too. This is the reason ive not had a Subaru in 2 years. 3 imprezas to date and two gearbox problems. Im hoping that the new shape ones 2003> are a bit better as im looking to get one this year. Good luck with fixing it mate. Enjoy
Sorry to bump this back up. but still having this issue.
Just want to get some more input before going to the mechanic and him telling em I need to remortgage my house to pay for the repairs
