Hi All,

I know a few peps on the board 'dabble' in shares, just wondering what are the best free on line charts that peps use ?

I think you'll find they all have about a 15 min delay. If you want up-to-the-minute prices then you'll have to pay for them.

One thing you could do is open an account with a spread betting company. For e.g., IGIndex give you all the charts you could want... although for smaller stocks you might have a problem. If you do go down that route, make sure there is no inactivity fee so it'll continue to be free.

Thumbs up

Not worried by live prices, just want something that is easy on the eye and has a fair bit of functionality. And free of course.

I'll browse these links today, thanks.

Never understood the point in buying shares unless it's over a long period, say 10yrs+. It must be impossible to predict the movement in the short term so why do it?

Nothing is impossible TX, my career is based around exploiting the market on a short term move, the best part about only being concerned with the immediate future is the fact that you can build into winning positions and if you're wrong you're out of the trade where as with a long term investment you wear the loss on a position plus the opportunity cost of having your capital tied up there!

Good to be diversified....
Good to be in things other than shares, eg property, (long term of course)

Good to be in shares too, maybe some long term "buy and forget" , but the short term trading is a bit of fun, provided it's doesn't become an expensive hobby, LOL.
