Default Superchipped ecu on my98

Just wanted
to know what the score is here, I have recently bought a my98 and found when I removed the ecu I noticed a little black box with super chip wrote on it, the box itself was not attached to the ecu but hard wired into the loom of the car, just wanted to know if this will actually worm or if it's causing more harm tham anything
else?

Just been reading on the website and apparently superchips say these little boxes increase the bhup by up to 38 bhp and nm by 90!!! seems a little over exaggerated me thinks, just want to know whether it is worth keeping or selling on and will it actually improve performance and can it be wired back in easy enough or will it need to be fitted by a pro??

the box you are talking about is nothing more than a fuel cut defender, the power increase talked about came from fitting a bleed valve along with the fuel cut defender to allow a raise in boost beyond the the original ecu pre-set fuel cut.
