I see David Shepperd has passed away after a battle with cancer, for any kid growing up in the 80's watching Test Cricket if he was umpiring you'd hope the score would land on 111, 222, 333 etc. just for the Shep leg raising, Bowden's finger has nothing on Sheps leg

That's terrible. Him and Dickie Bird were my two favourite umpiring characters. Like you say he is what I remember about test cricket in the eighties as a kid who used to watch test matches every summer holidays in the days they were on the bbc.
