hello

i have a 2002 bugeye sport and am getting worried about my gearbox.
if i change gear at 70mph, high revs, from third to forth i get a crunch noise like when you miss the gear. if i dip the clutch and wait a few seconds it does not do it. have also notice it does it a few times changing down from 5th to 4th and second to 1st. had a new clutch fitted around 20,000 miles ago. does this sound more like a clutch problem or gearbox? can it be adjusted or have i got to replace it?

forgot to mention also changed the slave cylinder

 

From my limited knowledge of transmissions, this sounds like a gearbox problem, rather than a clutch problem. The clutch wearing would allow it to slip once in gear. A problem with changing gear could be clutch if it isn't disengaging from the flywheel properly, but seems unlikely. Reading other posts to a similar problem I have, many people recommend putting expensive gearbox oil in, especially either castrol syntrax or redline heavyweight shockproof, the latter being £15 a litre before VAT. 4 litres for gearbox means circa £70!

Others may well have other ideas / suggestions

 

Sounds like your 4th gear synchro is on its way out.
