+1 for NOD32. Picks up everything and doesnt slow your computer to a grinding halt unlike some.

Thanks chaps, will have a look at this.

FYI Kasperski 2010 is £ 24.00 in PC World at the moment so a good price and i can get it today off the shelf which appealed

I have AVG freeware and TBH it is OK at best, machine slow but then again it is free. I bank online so want some decent protection. I have to manually scan to pick up a keylogger than had gotten onto my system which worried me into action.

forgot to add earlier, 30 day free trial with the nod32, just download it from the site, if you like it you can then purchase it on line.

Another vote for ESET here. Picks up everything!

I installed Kaspersky on someone else's computer and thought it was rubbish.

I did try Norton 360 but changed it when my comp became infected by trojanhorse sheur and addtracker etc.Did full system scan and norton still didn't remove it.tried Avast,Nod32 but now ive stuck with AVG security,it did a full system scan of comp like most of them do and picked up all the addware and trojan horse that was infecting my files and removed them all.Think the comp got infected by a file i downloaded off a music site which Norton didn't detect, now it's running great with AVG.
