Default Simtek ecu queries

Picking up a Type R in a few weeks which is run by one of these ecus now i've looked at their website SimTek Performance Engine Management BUT i've a few questions that the answers don't seem to be on there.

1: Does it have active Knock control rather than just flashing the CEL?
2: Does the ecu have to be returned to Simtek to have ALS put on it (i.e. is it software or hardware)

cheers Paul

Near sure the ALS is a software change, your installer/mapper can do this.

Dont know about the Knock control.

ALS is a software change iirc

At the minute Simtek only flashes the CEL, but knock control is coming & is a software upgrade.

Good ECU and there are an ever growing number of mappers on here who supply/fit/map them.
Anti lag and launch control is an option and down to what is specified by the original purchaser. Adding it after the event is not an issue.
