just drove car home form work and battery light and handbrake light are both on at same time on dash at the same time ?? what could cause this

If u have access to a multi meter, start the car and check the voltage across the battery to make sure the alternator is charging. should be anywhere around 13 - 14 Volts

 

Check ur brake fluid level to. That can trigger the light to come on in previous cars ive had. dunno about the scoob tho.

 

Like Martin0711 said defo sounds like alternator to me. See if it disappears when revving or brightens up. Check connections on alternator and put a multimeter and see what voltage your getting. Check ur belt is not loose aswell as this will not charge your battery very well aswell.
