Default Tuning cylinder heads

Ok so im going to be on the lookout for a set of cyl heads from a ver 5/6 STI for my new build.

im after information on whats the best to unleash power/effiency on cylinder heads.

cams?
adjustable cam pulleys?
porting and polishing? (IMO, cant see this doing much)
uprated parts?

what did you do and what gains/advantages did you see?

Thanks

Most of them seem to crack near the plug area, you need them clean to see it tho.

If you are considering a Solaris ecu, just be done with and get some AVCS heads from a newage sti.

Just need to run four extra wires to drive the avcs solenoids, as for the advantages better spool, more power and the heads have shimless buckets as standard.
