idle problems on a classic please HELP!

Default idle problems on a classic please HELP!

went to car as normal in the morning to go to work. went to start the car and the CHECK ENGINE lights come on . what seems to be happening is the revs keep on dropping and it sounds like its missing too. when i drove it to the garage i had to double clutch the car to drive it. kept on back firing ? what can it be ??? we checked the spark plugs the leads the lambda sensors...air mass sensor.. the throttle body... the sensor on that too and the ecu. and nothing? im so lost...... any ideas people havnt got a clue what to do????

you need to check the CEL code (Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia under the ECU heading shows you how to manually check for error codes)

keeps coming back with the air mass sensor. tried that but still no luck!

has your head gasket gone if its taking in air it will auto read to the air meter wont it
