Default Help Tinny Knocking sound from scooby

Whilst driving down the M6 the car developed a faint ticking noise which turned into a loud tinny sounding noise which increases in volume when accelerated. The car recieved an oil and spark plug change 2 days ago since then I have covered 200 miles in it with no problems. I checked the oil level then called the AA who were useless, the fella had never even seen under the bonet of a scooby before.
The car is my04 wrx.
Any ideas ?
Anyone know a good scooby specialist near Huddersfield ?

Just took the coil overs off and checked the spark plugs unfortunately they are all okay checked round the rest of the engine bay for any unconnected or loose wires all seem fine !
Looks like its going to cost a fortune.
Thanks for your advice it gave me a glimmer of hope this morning.
