Default American clutches, what's the difference?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if the American market for ACT and clutch master clutches are different to those of uk for say 2002 Sti with 6 speed? I'm after a 240 clutch to match my fidanza flywheel and the supplier isn't sure of differences, if any.

Anyone had problems with fitting of the ACT clutches for sti? I know the ACT 6 puck sprung is 240 but cant find out details about Clutch Master and manufacturers website wont confirm it.

The clutch may be £240 but the pressure plate will be about another £300

No, no wasn't talking price, was talking size...240 instead of 230...I just dont want to buy one that ends up fitting 5 speed when I have flywheel for 6 speed, plus wonder if splines are different...no one seems to know.

Hi swisstonihasher,

drop BOB'5 a pm as he is a dealer in ACT clutches, plus most are uprated aswell. He knows his stuff pretty well and can probably even do you a good deal on one.

Having mine fitted today together with a lightened flywheel and yes it was a 240 but an organic not a paddle type, but will be good for 515ft/lb of torque

Spines should be the same on all the 6 speed STI gearboxes, but i stand to be corrected.

Thanks Mel, I've had an offer from Bob'5 before for act but he wasn't selling the rated clutch I needed, then I went off on tangent with Clutch Masters which looks like you need 242 flywheel to go with their 242 clutch - couple of mm means cant use oe clutch, I've yet to confirm this though. Out of the two, with all my investigations I'd still like Clutch Master but their service for info from the states is lacking to say the least...I guess because they want me to deal direct with uk supplier and pay rip off britain prices...
