fitted a new box today came off fine wentback on fine but now i cannot get any gears i have to start the car in gear to get one ! what have i dne wrong ???

 

When you say you "can't get any gears", what happens when you try, with the engine running?

Would need to look at your car to tell you with certainty where the error is but it sounds rather as though your clutch isn't releasing. Did you make sure the spigot on the thrust bearing was fully engaged into the clip on the cover? Does the clutch pedal feel unusually "light"?

 

When I try to get it in whilst engine is runnin it crunches an won't let me put it in an yeah I put the bearin into the clip befor it went in lined it up

 

sounds to me like ur clutch release pinion no correctly alligined or located onto the shaft afore u re assembled it try pushing pedal up and down hard and fast and pullin with ur hand if it feels light and its doin nothin my one done that but worked it self into place ,,,u might be lucky or pop the viewin cap on top o box to see if clutch doin wat its meant too to do mate

 

Viewin cap ? Black rubber jacket around the release arm ??

 

aye well caw it wat ya wanna mate but it lets u see into the gubbins o the mechanism dont it ??? wen mine dropped to the floor ma mechanic done that and sorted it fae there
