Weird speckly looking things on paint
Dont really know how to describe these properly. We've just got a new car, its black and while you're polishing it you can see tiny dot like things on top of the paint and as the polishing cloth goes over, it leaves a trail of polish behind it.
Wondered what causes it and whether a claying would get rid or would it need machine polishing?

Use a strong solution of car shampoo as a lubricant for the clay bar, Alternate is glue and tar remover.
Our satelite dish gets covered in black dots, which is sap from the connifers (its a 2.5 metre dish). Which reminds me its due for waxing

I'd agree with Ali on the tar remover.
Could get a big ol' bottle of Autosmart Tardis from somewhere like Polished Bliss where you use a spray nozzle and cover the car, or you could get some Autoglym stuff from Halfords for about £5 which you apply on a cloth and wipe.
Haven't used the Tardis stuff but it gets rave reviews so will in the future, and can confirm the Autoglym Tar remover is good also.

I use Tardis, amongst some other stuff which the name escapes; does the job. (Although I have been known to use panel wipe or celly thinners in the past with really bad fall-out; use with caution if the car does not have factory paint).
Can confirm Meguires Bug and Tar remover is shyte though (smells nice though).

Cheers guys, last nite i ordered a few bits of Megs stuff we had ran out of, including a clay bar, so hopefully it'll be here next week. Never tried Tardis, will go for that if the claying doesnt work.
Our stock advice for full and proper paint decontamination is as follows...
Decontaminate (once or twice a year, spring and autumn are the best times)
Step 1 - Autosmart Tardis & Accessories (to remove tar spots, tree sap, etc) - Autosmart Tardis - Autosmart Car Care and Detailing Products
Step 2 - Meguiars Quik Clay Kit (to remove industrial fallout, soot, etc) - Meguiars Quik Clay Kit - Meguiars Car Care and Detailing Products
More info on the reasons why here...
