Hi all, finally got my car at the weekend, exactly what I was looking for, a black 98 STi, mmm lovely. I am driving it extremely slowly at the moment, until all the oils have been changed etc - but only 'til then!
Anyway, i have a couple of questions, if anyone can help:
It has lexus-style rear lights, which I am going to change. I want to get some suitable originals, but want to make sure they will be UK legal, with a fog light etc - can someone suggest a trustworthy source?
The engine still has the original, virtually pristine red coating. The car has done about 78,000 km but I think it usually starts to peel off long before then. The seller said it had lasted because he kept it soaked in WD40 - has anyone out there heard of this before, or got any other techniques that may help?
A big general thanks to everyone on Scoobynet who has helped out and answered my questions during my search for this car. She's a keeper!

The original lights for that model, are pretty sought after, as they have a clear strip of platic on the bottom half, instead of the unsightly orange.
Unfortunate for you, they tend to go for 150 pounds or more, and wouldn't be road legal.
So you could either go 3 ways:
1: Get non STI lights from a UK model, and wire up the fog light that comes as standard in its loom.
2: Get the correct STI lights, have an external foglight fitted (bumper mounted and ugly)
or 3: Get the correct STI lights, and have one of the reverse bublbs replaced to be a foglight bulb. It done on here a lot. You only need one reverse light. So people replace the drivers side with an LED bulb. LED becuase it is not red when its off, so you can't see it throught the clear section of the lights.
Hope that helps.
