I'd like to clean up my front and rear arches. Get all the dirt out, clean up as much as possible and maybe paint up a few bits and bobs.

Anyone got any tips/advice?

Advice.....dont even begin LOL,

only jokin, i only intended to take the wheels off and give everyhting a good clean and paint a few bits, but everything was too far gone, so i had to go the whole hog, hopefully yours wouldnt be as bad and you could get away with a general tidyup

 

Stripped , wirebrushed, primed, painted

Then the suspension bits stripped, shotblasted, powdercoated, rebushed and refitted

Daisys all purpose cleaner from Tesco and a stiff brush to start with 2 hours an arch should get the job done """by the time you have cleaned them to perfection ""

 

All Purpose Cleaner (or if really bad Megs Super Degreaser) and a brush (I found a cheap paintbrush is ideal and then throw away after use) then spray down with Pressure Washer. Once dry add a couple of coats of black Waxoyl Underseal spray (around £6 a can). Job done.

Bigsigh - that is what I want to do. Looks amazing.

I'm quite concerned because one of the arches has some very slight bubbling. The car has done 57K but its been in the UK since new and had never been undersealed. The ohlins look a quite crappy but not replacing them as they are quite expensive.

 

Thanks edd, the ohlins were rusted badly on mine and knocking like hell, so i opted for the APEX GB and got BC coilovers, it took me ages but it came up well in the end, theres a project thread on it if u want more info ill send you it, project isnt on scoobynet

 

A general approach that works well is Meguiars Super Degreaser (cut 4:1) sprayed on liberally and agitated with various brushes, then rinse, then a liberal dosing with Autosmart Tardis and more brushes, then rinse and dry, then dress plastics with Meguiars All Season Dressing (and seal metals and painted surfaces with Werkstat Prime Strong if you wish). The combination of Super Degreaser and Tardis is up to most challenges.
