Hello allen , i just spoke to my partner who works for a company who deals with peoples cheques , she said you will have to contact the solicitor and tell them you have paid it in so they can give clearance , but usually they pay it straight in to your account so it don't look suspicious or fraudulent ..lol or they might be broke ....lol hope you get it sorted . mines a large one ...lol
No funds in the account to cover Alan.
The bank automatically represents to see if it will clear on the second presentation. If not it will be sent back to you as Refer to Drawer.
Get on to them mate and give them some stick.
Edited to add if they had stopped payment it would have been stamped Payment Stopped.

Not seen that since I worked in a Bike shop in the 1980's....
It means that there are insufficient funds in the account to which the cheque was drawn so has been "bounced".
It's actually illegal to write a cheque knowing that it can't be cashed.....the definition has changed over the years but I think the current terminology is a "false instrument"..either way the solicitors are to blame.
