Default Codec's for xbox 360

I've got loads of films on my pc that I can watch without a problem. I've got a few different codec packages installed. I try to watch them on my xbox using windows media centre but the xbox won't play them, it talks about not having the necessary codec's installed even though it will play on my pc.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is your 360 connected to live? the 360 will play divx and xvid with the necessary update. I don't think it works with media centre though but I could be wrong.

No need to use that if they've divx or xvid avi's.

Depends on the codec that they are encoded with. The 360 will not play all formats (nor will the PS3). You may need to re-encode them in a different format for the console to be able to play them (or as already mentioned, use something like TVeristy).
