I think I have found the back-up file from my phone that went faulty. It appears that not all my contacts were saved to sim so I need to open this file to get the other contacts details. (I'm assuming that this file will have the details within?)
Does anyone know of a program I could use? I've tried excel and Access to no avail. I've googled but cant find a definitive answer.

I did google and came across some links but as far as I can see most just give the option to 'scan for .dbk errors' or the likes.
What I am looking for is the ability to open the file and read it in plain text format...if that's even possible?
I used the Sony Ericsson PC suite thing to back the phonebook up but now have a samsung phone and cannot access the list via the prog. so opening the back up file is my only option...I think.

 

Not listed here so might be proprietary to the app the wrote it.

Can you view the list in the sony app?

Have you tried opening it in wordpad or excel to see if anything is salvageable from there?

 

I can't view it without a sony phone being connected something that I don't have access to at the mo.
I have tried notepad, excel and access to see if I could read it in any of them but had no joy.

 

You are going to need dBASE or similar, try dbf
