My son has mucked his compaq up by downloading a film. Nod 32 said it had stopped a virus but the computer wont boot now. Tried doing a system restore but after its done it after the front screen it goes blank.The only thing i can get on the screen is this message "windows cant start as the following file is missing or currupt \windows\system32\config\system Please put the set up cd in." The pc came with the restore on the hard drive so we havent any cd,s. Any help be great ta.

 

I thought when you have restore on the H/D it is in a seperate potition, even if you did a format it is still there, Operating system is in another segment

 

It goes through the system restore but then the screen goes blank on reboot
