Please help!

I know i've left it a little late but, i'm going looking at my first scooby tomoz, its a 95 plate wrx import.

Please could someone advise me what I need to look out for ie common faults.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

piston slap when cold is normal,when the engine warms up it should goaway.

listen for the dreaded knock (big end failure) if it has oil gauges etc pressure should be 2 bar or higher at idle when warm.

look out for any normal stuff you would do on a car.

expect damage/repair`s,they are a fast car that get driven hard,if they say its been driven normal they are lying,but repairs should be a good job/quality.

check all fluids as normal, head gasket etc,milky residue in oil filler cap/water levels in header tanks.

rear arches can rust if not been treated after its been imported over here, so check its been undersealed etc

Its just arrived in this country so i'll be the first owner, 46,000 miles with full service history with just one owner in japan, cam belt changed 5000 miles ago.

Apparantly its going to be wax oiled before its sold?!

What is piston slap? (sorry not the most mechanical minded)

Am i right in thinking their about 260BHP as standard? 0 - 60 in about 5secs? its been deristricted also so what would the top speed be?

de-restricted is about 150 mph

better off you tube`n piston slapfor the sound of it.

dont always believe the import mileage/service etc unless it has a BIMTA cert etc most have been clocked etc,some say no,but thats a bit niave really.
