Default Andy F Upgrade

Looking for a bit of advice from you experts - I have saw a 55 Plate wrx that has been advertised as having been modded to 300bhp.

as far as I know it has an uprated exhaust and an Andy Forrest remap only.

questions that are worrying me slightly are can the standard brakes handle this, if no uprated fuel pump has been fitted will it run lean and how is the general reliability with this kind of upgrade.

I know Andy has a great reputation so that is one plus in its favour but I`m not sure that the advertised 300 figure is correct.

can anyone give me any insight into the above issues ?

thanks for looking.

If Andy has mapped it, it'll be good and safe.

Brakes fine for road use, would recommend uprated pads (e.g. Ferrodo or Pagid).

300 seems high with just a decat and remap. I would expect around 280 from that with a safe map.

For 300+ I'd expect a bigger turbo, fuel pump and injectors.

Thanks for the replies - just checked andy`s website and its says the standard fuel pump seems to be good up to 320 bhp so that should be ok.

Not sure if it has had a decat or not but I reckon like you guys a figure of around 260 - 280 is probably nearer the mark - as per andy`s website.

Can`t say I`m bothered as I would be quite happy with the standard 220 bhp.

Hopefully will get a test drive soon - also looking at an 06 hawkeye wrx (standard) so it will be interesting to see how they compare.

Are you saying that a standard 2.5 WRX will drive better on the road, than a properly remapped circa 270/280 bhp 2.0 WRX?

As an answer to the original post...300 BHP is a bit optimistic LOL .

Andy keeps records of the cars he maps and I'm sure he would help if possible about the likely BHP

Shaun

S70rjw........... I've driven my 2.0 WRX bugeye at a variety of mods from 200 to 400 BHP and also my mates unmodded 2.5 UK hawkeye STI and a few more LOL

It depends on what mood you are in....but for all round drivability it's hard to beat the 2.5 lump !
