any body had trouble with Ferodo DS2500 Pads breaking up after hard trackday use.

not sure if this is usual or a faulty set.

 

all pads can potentially start to crumble/break down if they have been run continuously above their operating temps...............

Did you bed them in first ?

I've only seen EBC pads do that in the past !

yes they were bedded in they have done 4 track days & started to drag slightly caliper is free & found pads breaking up

 

I've seen this on my shared Saxo track car (GTi6 front brakes) with DS2500, since switched to Pagid RS42 and no further probs. For what its worth I think DS2500 is a great road pad but it starts to show temperature limitations on track.

 

Personally, although I've been impressed with the cold bite and general performance of the DS2500's, they don't half squeal on light breaking applications and are even more dusty than the Pagid Blacks. On balance, I think I prefer the Pagids.

they have been over-heated simple as.............

you either need to run more structured "cooling" laps or use a higher temp capable compound

Further to Alyn's comments have you had any instruction on track. I used to do banzai stops everywhere and had overheating issues. My instructor has weaned me off this habit and got me braking a little earlier and lighter which keeps the car settled (allowing higher corner speeds and better lap times), leaves room for misjudgements (frequent in my case), and preserves my brakes.

 

Just a point here but that looks like a rear pad, if so what have you got in the front?

 

well spotted they are the rear pads thats is the interesting thing the fronts are ds2500 aswell but there coping with the heat & they run alot hotter.

the driving style could be a good point i am quite agressive, but the fronts cope with it evan though they run at 270 degrees c.

I am going to reface the pads & try them again on Sunday if problem reoccures I will change pads. any suggestions on high temp pads that will cope with my agressive driving.
I will try to brake differantly but when I am chasing or being chased by a gt3 or similar I am not going to break early its impossible.

just for info problem was caused by slightly warped disc. now sorted

 

For higher temp capability consider Pagid RS42 or RS29.
