Tough choice!

I think I would go for the RS4.

Depends on the kind of driving you will be doing Alan but I would leaning towards the M5.

What do you think of the ones that you've driven so far?

m5 - fast, flash, rwd
rs6 - expensive, ****ing fast, 170mph cruiser.

I can't help but love the RS4 the most out of that list. It's defo the car that makes me the most passionate. However, I don't think I could ignore that fact that pound for pound you can get the same M5 for the same RS4 mileage and that the M5 simply walks all over the Audi for performance. I think when I came to parting with my hard earned I'd be getting the M5.

I remember reading that of all the super and hyper cars available from Damon Hills P1 car club, the RS6 is the most expensive one to keep running, over and above the Lambo's, Ferrari's et al. You need deep pockets to buy them, but even deeper to keep them. Someone on here has not regretted getting out of sports car ownership and joining that club, and now enjoys a blast in any car he fancies whilst running a shed day to day. Well, probably a nice shed, but something more average and sensible with tiny bills

Whatever you get, enjoy it you lucky b@$t@rd

IIRC the 335D dispatches the 30-70 sprint 0.4s faster than the M5 The extra weight of your 5 Series may put them level on that Top Trump, but despite the M5's awesome speed and abilities, you'll pass him whilst he's filling his tanks, again, and again

Yeah, but for what M5's cost he could keep the 535D and have a Gallardo with low miles for fun, a V10 just for once in your life Someone told me they'd seen one recently for £34k, but I never got a link

On noise alone I'd go for the S5. 4 wheel drive too. Looks nice, inside and out.
Have you found a track car yet ,Alan?

Exactly what a mate of mine has done to his. It's rather quick.

The guy in that vid needs to work on his gearchanges...

All very different cars, however, I was left disappointed when I drove the S5. Came over as a bit lardy and no urgency in it's performance, but they do look nice if that's your sort of thing.

M5 Luxury? I've driven a new M5 and own a B7 RS4. The RS4 wins hands down in terms of cabin luxury, just make sure you get one with Carbon fibre inserts.

Its still one of the best built/finished cabins available imho.

Alan - give me a shout if you want to know a few things about the RS and what to look for when buying. Mine is going in for some engine work shortly

She's great.

Back on topic I would probably have the RS4 Alan. Cabin quality and the engine note alone would justify that.

What about a BMW Alpina B5. A little more user friendly than the M5, but with comparible performance. More of a mixture of an RS4 and M5 together
