Drilled discs suck you need some good grooved items, bin the drilled ones, its for show rather than anything else.

As for upgrading, yes the 4 pots are better, still could do with improving though but you can pick a set up for around the 200 quid mark so reasonable, do the disc/pad upgrade then and forget the ebc stuff, go for DS2500's or mintex 1144/1155's

All the BIG cars you see with these on have them cast with the holes so you dont get the stress fractures, it costs a little more though....

Drilled are known to show cracks under heavy use. As the guy above says, get grooved but NOT drilled. EBC pads aren't recommended either for Scoobs. The car is too heavy and too fast, especially for Green Stuff, Red Ceramic as a minimum, but ideally something like Pagid Blue, Mintex 1144/1155 or Ferodo DSPF/DS2500. 4 Pots are a worthwhile upgrade as the 2 Pots were never really up to a standard Scoob, never mind a mod'd one. Whilst you're upgrading those, pop some braided stainless lines on and change the fluid to DOT5.1.

The best route you could take though is to learn some new driving techniques. I wore out a set of Red Ceramics in 6k miles, but after getting tuition from a Police Class 1 Pursuit driver on Roadcraft, managed to make the next set of Ferodo pads last nearly 40k. If you apply the method properly you should rarely need to brake and yet cornering speeds will increase massively. On one corner during the days tuition I saw my entry speed rise from 90 to 130, and exit speed up from 70 to 140 I simply never knew how much grip these cars have when driven smoothly, but when my tutor was hurtling towards what I saw as a 60mph corner at 130 and wasn't braking or lifting at all my heart was in my mouth, but the eye-opening realization of the cars abilities soon grew along with my own abilities. I know of not one, or even any collection of mods which could give such a significant increase in not only speed, but safety too for any price. I got my training free, but would happily pay hundreds for it again.

Are your EBC disks defo drilled or just dimpled

 

Connor, I was on 2 pot front brakes as well even after having the apexi ecu fitted and mapped. Just adjusted my driving to suit...but was never ideal as I could never use the car to it's full potential. Couldn't even keep up with my friend's starlet on a twisty B road.

My car was quicker in a straight line and could hold more speed through the corners, but after using the brakes the way they are meant to be used for about 30 secs worth of driving, they were knackered!

Would you consider brembos from a newage, or would you prefer not to spend that much?

 

What's wrong with EBC pads?

I've been running EBC yellow stuff pads in my MY03 STi for almost 18months with no problems what so ever.

 

The pads are fine...think it's the discs that are sh*te. Alot of specialists don't stock them now because they kept warping.

I was wondering as the pads were recommended to me by several sources, including an independant tuning company and loads of other scoob owners with modified cars.

 

Performance Friction pads are superb, but theyre bloody expensive.

 

try godspeed, he posts on here quite regular and will give you a one year guarantee on them whether you use the car on track or not, cant get fairer than that

 

just member connor the bigger the brakes more poss hassle wi wheels going over them do your current wheels have the correct offset to fit over 4 pots?

yeh seen a post from someone sayin the 4 pots didn`t fit under them but sure there are 2 offsets for them one tat does one that doesn`t find a nother scoob and try one of your wheels on it see if they do Greig
