Default Going from 17s to 18s

I've just bought some 18" inch wheels for my Classic (they should hopefully arrive on Friday) to replace my current 17s, and was curious to know if that extra inch makes much of a difference in handling on the Impreza.

The reason I ask is that with my previous cars (Toyota MR2s), going larger than a 17" wheel seemed to really screw up the way the car behaved on the road (harsh ride, tramlining, etc).

Is the Impreza more 'forgiving' in this area?

dunno man? it shouldn't make a major difference, might give it a bit more body role as it is higher off the ground

IIRC Prodrive did some back to back tests years ago and decided that 17" were the best compromise on a classic
18" were found to tramline badly and also upset the handling.

Best set up on a classic would seem to be 17" rims with 215/40 R17 Tyres.... and there's another can of worms

Sorry!

Blimey! I'm so glad I found this post I was about to buy some 18"s for my classic.
I best re-think that idea

Only joined a couple of days ago and already the tech info could have saved me lots of £'s so I best do my bit and buy a SN sticker

Cheers.
