I am going to buy some new T1R's and have been thinking about using a higher profile tyre.

I have used the 215/40/17's for the last 5 years and have found them a little harsh.

So, how about using a 45 profile?

Will they fit under the arches with 35mm lowering springs fitted?

Wheels are ST2's with a 52mm offset I believe.

Thoughts please.

40's is the proper size for 17's on a classic. 45's, which I have rub on hard cornering when fully loaded.
So its catch 22 for you. Harsh ride, or rubbing on cornering.

Have you thought about using a soft sidewalled tyre like the Falken FK452??

Have a look here Tyre reviews - tyre reviews, ratings and road tests for all car, bike and trackday performance tyres. They seem to be well respected with a long term test as well. Might not turn in as well though.

I believe the recommended size for Classics is either 205/45/17 or 215/40/17.

I run RE070's (225/45/17) on my car lowered on AST coilovers rear arches slightly rolled but no rubbing or catching.

I'm running goodyear F1 gsd3 at the moment and looking like at least the front 2 are going to need a change soon, just wondering whether to stick with them or try something new.

I have found 4 T1R's for 254.00 delivered!! So may be going for these.

well had to make a distress purchase this afternoon, 8 miles outside buxton (weekend away), think i clipped something in the road, thinking steering going a bit heavy and what is that smell of rubber!!

so shredded f1 and musical wheels (335 discs on front so spacesaver has to go on the back). limped into the hotel, they gave the tyre centers number and £111 later new f1 215/40 17 well at least cheaper than kw*kfit, but not as cheap as I priced them in bromley yesterday!!(£89).

ah well at least I can do some touring now and I see theres something called the snake pass nearby.

 

does that not knock your speedo out with the bigger radius

hey banny was wondering the same myself about speedo iam going from standard MY 2000 wheels and tyres to 215 45 17 and the speedo still reads the same?

 

Ive got 215/45/17 on my RA and the speedo over reads slightly, confirmed by GPS. They only rub slighty on the front if cornering hard on a bumpy road

camskill are doing 4 T1r's for £251.04 or 4 FK452's for £224.

I had the 452's on my old Impreza in 215/40R17 and thought they were as good as the T1-S's but a lot quieter!!

Having a bit of trouble with the LPG at the moment so not really using it!! There might be a blockage and it looks like it wasn't fitted correctly.

Also do you remeber me calling you about the ratteling heatshield on the headers......turned out to be the big end bearings!!
