HOW DO YOU CHECK THE HISTORY ?

Question

How do you check the history of an import before it was brought into the country or do you just takes your chances and hope you get a good one.

In my experience the only paperwork I got with the car was a Certificate of cancellation of Registration ( signed by NOBUYA YAMANKA MANAGING DIRECTOR ? NICHIBO JAPAN TRADING CO. LTD.??? )
which gives name & address of possessor,registration date, model ....Not much really.I suppose you could try and chase it up?Speaking Japanese would help.

Another, was the copy of the country of export shipment form which includes the selling price, i think, in local currency? and taxes paid. If you can translate into sterling it shows the mark up the garage is putting on.

This was from a garage that imports from Japan regular but not many Performance cars. You may get more history from a garage that just deals in sports/performance imports
