Spot on myblackwrx the Germans are indeed limited, besides the fact that by the time it gets to 160 the BMW, audi and lotus would of been bouncing off the limiter for some time and be long gone
I like the idea of what they have done, made a crazy hatch but being blunt. People who would buy a Corsa couldn't afford it let alone insure it. People who could afford it would I'm guessing buy something else. 22k buys a lot of second hand car. I do like it though to be honest, crazy fast for what it is

i guess we will get to know what its like if 'The Stig' gets his claws on it
some say he can change traffic lights with a nod of the head
and that his internal organs can withstand 20g

I guess it will be a very fast car. The only thing that would put me off is the suspension. It looks too low to be any good on a bumpy back road. More suited to smooth roads and tracks.
I quite like the Corsa VXR. But the Corsa is certainly not a `SMALL` car. I had one for a few weeks (1.2) and hated it. It felt a big car, and everything was too light and numb. The VXR will be a different car all together.
But at £22k, I think I swerve towards the BMW dealer and order a Mini cooper S Works. That's if I was buying new.
You can pick up a hell of a lot of second hand cars now a days for £22k.

Agreed, we have a number of 5 door Corsa's at work and they are not that far off the size of the current Astra
Nice to know another is pushing the power beyond the limits of fwd.
But another miscontrue article that suggests 0-60mph and top speed (unlimted) is the way how you compare cars' performance these days. Why won't the press stop using these old fashioned and dated comparisons, and use 0-100's (or even 60-100) instead which show the larger picture??
That mentioned, to hit 60 in 5.6secs in a front wheel drive car (the standard VXR weighs about 1170kg) it will certainly require semi-slick track tyres to get the power down on a normal road (even with the trick diff this example had) and I see no mention of this other than in the "options", so that figure is not explained very well again.
If it did this 0-60, then the 0-100 could well be under 14secs which is still pretty quick for a small(ish) car, more than enough to put a smile on your face and cover ground well, but not enough to keep up with the (mentioned) RS6 that would of left it for dead by then!
ffs £22k for a corsa..your having a laugh, against a new £25k 300bhp Focus RS it looks very expensive, against the second hand market obsene. You can get a second hand 996 turbo for £25k these days (or be it very expensive to run).
As a fast drivers hot hatch give me a year old half-the-price (£11k) Megane R26, or even Mini Cooper S Works, any day!

ummmmmmmmmmmmm surely just spend 13k on a vxr and then take it to regal or courtney and spend £3000 on the exhaust , intercooler , remap and suspension
or am i being daft
fair enuff no warranty but that gives you 6.5k burning a hole in youre back pocket

Something about the Corsa just rubbed me up the wrong way. Far too heavy, no torque, horrible interior, crap steering and it felt like a big car but horrible in crosswinds. Never since I drove 200 miles in a Mk3 Golf GTi 8 valve have I hated a car so much. And I once owned a Fiat Strada
Would something like that be group 20 insurance?
Just seems aimed at kids who couldn't actually afford to run it?
I'm not going to knock it though.I want car companies to keep building pocket rockets and fast cars and stop the green tosh 'eco' junk
