I thought I had damaged my rear diff on my UK '99 turbo 2000 Impreza so spent ages trying to source a second hand one. I have one and have spare half shafts and CV joints, but after speaking to other people it sounds as if its the CV joint thats gone and not the diff after all.

My question is, whats involved in swapping a halfshaft? Do I need to take the hub off or can I get it out by just dropping the diff? I might attempt it myself if its not too difficult to save abit of cash.
