Hi,

New here and looking for some advise. I'm looking at a car that has a an upgrade chip as listed in the title. Can anyone give some info on this chip as I had never heard of it.

Cheers Ally

Just had a look on Google and plenty of results come up for them and a few on Ebay as 'Ahmed Bajoo chips'.

Why not ask the guy who's selling it if he has some info on it

They do seem to be Ford orientated.

scoob + generic map = no no no

while i don't know anything about the chip the map on it is a big no no.

can make them run very badly indeed, some to the point of engine damage, none of the major tuners use them + they dont get the best out of the mods or standard engine

I didn't want to ask the supplier as you'll just get the sales bull. I was looking for more real life opinions.

Does anyone know if its a plug in or a remap. Basically would it be removeable. I'd prefer an Andy Forest remap. My mate had that done by Andy and it was very good.

if your having a custom map done anyway tehn don't even bother looking on ebay.

just get the exsiting ecu mapped (if it is mapable) and if not then scoobyecu it. setup specificly for subaru's, used by all the main tuners so well up to the job.

Ahmed Bajoo is a well respected ECU guru in Ford circles. He was at one time retained by Ford for work on their competition cars. I think it's accepted that proper live mapping is better than a generic map on a chip, but as "chips" go, it's probably as good as most.

ment it more as a generic term for a piggy back ecu, ESL is the most common one

I wasn't looking to get this done, I asked as its currently fitted to a car I'm looking at. While its a nice car I hadn't heard of the chip so felt this was the best place to get the info. Based on the limited exerience I've had with the Scooby (my mates) I did like the live map Andy Forest had done for him. I do feel if I do a deal for this vehicle, I'll remove the chip and get the live map done. Thanks for all the comments.
