is there any diffrence between the n/s or o/s driveshaft

iv been given a driveshaft for my car but it seems a little difrtent from the on i pulled off the have the same amount of splins and apear to be the same size but they do not seem to be 100% identical i think the drive shaft is off a later model could any one also tell me the torque stetting for the hub nut and the bottom ball joint thanks very much,steven
