Squealing from cold when turning steering wheel

Question Squealing from cold when turning steering wheel

Very loud squeal coming from engine bay when car cold and turning wheel.
Also lumpy power assistance felt through wheel at same time.
Presume this is a slipping power sterring belt... can someone advise if this belt is adjusted via the alternator tension adjuster?
Wish Haynes would pull their finger out.

Either too much play on the belt or in my case the bearing has gone on the pump and I am replacing mine. It squeals when I turn right

Also check the fluid level. You have to extract the filter with some pliers and look at the level as even though it may sit in the filter, it can be a false indication
