Does the gearbox need totally removing?
Hi worked out my clutch problems are due to the release bearing being knackered!
Do i need to totally remove the box to get at the shaft ad replace, or can i just remove prop, driveshafts and seperate it enough from engine to get in there? ie do i need to remove gearstick linkage etc?

Well put it this way you will have to remove the clutch to fit this....as the clutch is not a push type and is pull type clutch. Meaning the bearing is actually secured to the pressure plate with a retaining ring on the clutch plate side.
To make life easy i would remove the lot and ensure all is done properly, i.e. check clutch, flywheel, grease shaft splines, flywheel spigot and even the metal plate on No3 cylinder behind flywheel as things can get very oily in the bell house if this plate ever works it way loose or sealant fails.
I have never actually heard of anybody change the bearing on these with keeping gearbox in car, so cannot comment on if it is possible or not but IMHO i would check the lot before i put it back in.

Release baring is already 'off' the clutch, i can see down through the release fork opening.
No worries, will attempt tomo, wasn't too convinced i could get to the nuts etc to remove gearstick linkage
