Default Sensible mods for a standard uk2000

I'm on the verge of buying a standard v reg uk2000. I would like a jap spec for the power but as this car is completely standard with a fsh I thought that I could get similar power gains through sensible mods.
The question is where do I start and what would it cost??
I basically wanna take this car to the same level or better than a standard sti.
Any suggestions??
Thank you

you will need big turbo VF34 if you only want to go 300-330, 3 port, fuel pump and a remap, this will cost all new all in £1500,£1750 get 2nd hand parts save half
