Got these Prodrive jobbies off the infamous Mr Childs at Cheam Motors (see above for contact details). They were £17 + vat +p&p per pair. Excellent little things and doddle to fit

Thinking of putting some mud flaps on to the scoob, I will probably go for the Injection moulded ones - has anyone got a picture of them on their car?

Likewise, if anyone has got better ideas than these (without me constructing my own), I'd be gald to hear about them - STI ones?

Thanks guys - I have e-mailed Jim on the subject, but really wanted to see on a larger portion of the car than on Cheam's website.

Simon, how effective do you find the ones you've got, are they the P1 ones? - I've heard that the offset is different so aren't as good on standard cars - albeit that i've got 17" wheels so that may have been the point I forget. Have you only got on the front then?

Certainly £17+VAT sounds a lot better than £40 odd per pair.

Could you describe how they are fitted ?

ie are they just held by the large plastic 'screws' (plugs really) -- is that strong enough
Or are there some other fixings as well
Does any of it involve metal screws etc 'cutting' into the bodywork
as you most definitely do not want to break the paint protection etc on the wings etc, as no matter how much you re-protect it, it will always start rusting

As far as I am aware they are P1 parts; I've only had them fitted a short while and today was the first time I've been able to try them out and, yes, they do do the trick Gone is the large swathe of cr@p that usually adorns the side of my car after a bit of wet country lane action. As regards offset, I'm afraid that's a bit too A-level for me; as far as I'm concerned they cost £17 and stop the side of my car getting chipped and covered in filth! Works for me

The flaps (ooer) <I>are</I> held on by the two large screws/plugs as well as a small metal clip that goes over the flap and the plastic edge of the sill (see picture)

They are made of fairly hefty rubber and are thus flexible and seem not to put too much strain on the mounting points. There is no drilling etc of the bodywork. I'm pleased with them: very cheap and very effective. What more could you want?

No wheel removal or anything like that involved at all. Trickiest bit was getting them out the bag!

 

Simon - you have your side skirts painted - did you do that???

If not where and how much?? are they easy to get off??

Depends why you want the mudflaps in the first place .... if it's basically for nothing more than cosmetic reasons ... then go for the P1 jobs at 17 quid ... but if you want them to do a proper job then go for the 40 odd quid set which is what I did .... I have 17s as well ... and there's a hell of a lot of difference compared to not having them (I do a lot of driving on country roads which are muddy, gravelly etc).

 

Rebecca, lol. Yeah the cosmetic reason for my £17 mudflaps is to keep mud and corruption off the sides of my car Maybe the bigger ones are better for 17's I don't know; all I can say is the Prodrive ones work fine on a UK MY00 with 16's (rigourously tested out here in the countryside )
Pete, I had the side skirts and rear bumper covers done at a place in Swindon, cost about £200 but worth it (for purely cosmetic reasons you understand ).
