Default Funny smell inside car

If I set off in a hurry, not only a launch, I get a sort of burning smell in the car. I know this smells like a clutch but the clutch doesnt appear to slip at all so it puzzles me as to why it smells. Is it normal to have this smell or is my clutch goosed? Its not rubber, there is no wheel spin.
Its an 06 2.5l WRX type UK with 22k on the clock and all original standard bits except the wheels which are 18" PFF-7's and PPP exhaust.

Thanks Andy

Sounds like you just took a bit of life out of the clutch. Should be fine unless you do this on a regular basis.

yep just the clutch...i remember the first time i did the same thing. Hadn't had the car that long and i wanted to see how quick it really could get to 60.

built a few revs (around 2K) slipped the clutch slightly and floored it. the car shot up the road like a rocket but then 5 seconds later i smell a horrible burning smell and i thought i had broken my new car so gentle drove it home logged on here posted an almost identical post to find it was normal.

because the car has so much traction it doesn't slip the wheels very easily on a bone dry road so the clutch slips slightly nothing to worry about unless you do it on a regular basis as stated above
