Exactly 12 months and counting til my current company car gets replaced BY A SCOOBY! (remember when as a kid you could'nt wait for Xmas)!!

Anyway Im trying to get all the facts a figures together so as can make a practical choice. UK spec car or STi import???

I know the import will beat the UK car hands down as regards performance a general spec but im a little concered as to servicing a jap import are parts (plugs, oil and air filters etc etc) the same as UK cars or do I have to arrange for imported parts?

Also I know that Scooby dealers wont touch a jap car. Is there any good service agent close to Chester that will do a good job? Is it dearer to service a jap import? I also require a local test centre with a good rolling road specialist to check that everything is running smoothly on a regular basis (every 2 months sound like a good idea?!) to keep everthing in tip top order.

By the time your ready for your new frog eyed my02 the new sti will be in Britain, so, as for jap imports, dont worry just get a uk one

Your options are wrong.

It is the question of an EU import or a jap import that you should be considering.

If you're considering a jap import, they aren't expensive to service (filters etc same as uk car). If you do need to replace parts that are not on the uk model, they are easy to source quickly. Power and handling are better. They are also cheaper than a uk model (but more than an EU import). Downsides are getting it insured (depends on individual details - may be a little more, may be a lot - but then it's better performance than moded uk cars) and resale values. If you import one from new, it will have a uk history, and resale value should be ok (especially considering the price you should have paid for it).
