Finally got around to posting this detail up, it was done in early September when she got the car, but I've been too busy at work!! I initially wasn't going to post up a detail on a brand new car, but it was loads more work than I expected!!

The car - a 58 plate UK STI in Obsidian Black, I'm told it's very rare to get a UK car in this colour. (Now that I've said that, they're probably loading hundreds onto ships headed for the UK right now).

This is it with 65 miles on it -





First of all washed the car using the 2 bucket method, Megs Shampoo plus, and a lambswool mitt and dried with waffle weave towels.
My plan was to give the car a hand polish, seal and then wax it as I asked the dealer to leave it as I wanted to detail it myself. Turns out it had been in the showroom and someone had machine polished it and there were swirls and buffer trails on every panel -







So that was it, time to tape her up and break out the G220 and Menz 85RD.

Once I had machined the whole car, I decided to fit all the extras I had bought (I just couldn't wait)

Wheels - were cleaned using Menx 7.5 gel, sealed with poorboys wheel sealant and the tyres dressed using blackfire longlife tyre gel -





I then decided to fit the Rally Armor mudflaps I'd picked up on holiday in the States. Initially I wasn't going to fit flaps until I'd read all the US reviews about the paint and as we're keeping this one a long time, I thought prevention was better than the cure. I wanted flaps that didn't have to be drilled into the body and were really good quality (unfortunately, I didn't know I had to remove the bottom half of the front wings and sideskirts to fit them!!!)





Onto the front now, where the new mesh grill, front foglamps and new number plates tidy things up -





Then finally onto the rear to debadge and sort out the bling rear lights!!

Then back to the detailing. Sealed the bodywork using Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection and then waxed using Blackfire Midnight Sun.
Interior traeted to some poorboys natural look dressing and all glass cleaned with Megs Nxt Glass Cleaner. Exhaust tips polished with Megs Nxt metal cleaner and arches and plastic trims done with Megs All Season Dressing.

Another cracking detail, well done Mike! Like the look of the motor too, the look of it has grown on me a lot. Subtle mods, tasty!

 

I must say it does look rather tastefully styled. Good detail.

 

Cheers for the comments guys. To be honest, I didn't like the car when it was first launched, but when I saw it in the flesh it was like a different car!!

Now with all the wee mods done, I think it looks (and drives) really nice

Just a shame it needed so much work for a brand new car

You are welcome. I too when I first did not like the 'hatch' impreza, but more and more I see one on the road, the more I like. Considering I don't like black cars, I actually like yours.

The back end looks great now it`s been debadged and the Rally Armour flaps are pretty trick

Yeah, popped into the delaers today and they've got 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

That's a very nice finish.

But yet again another car that leaves the showroom with paint defects that the new owner has to rectify. You wonder why they had to machine polish it in the first place.
