Reversed inlet manifold
Who on here knows of anyone who can do this (cutting, blanking and welding of the TB flange) to my sti v2 inlet manifold please?, or if anyone can tell me exactly how to do it, angles, lengths etc then my uncle could do it,
thanks
thanks
thanks you 2, you have confirmed what i thought, what are more worthwhile mods to suit a 20g, other what i have already done which include:
FMIC hybrid
550cc Injectors
Aeromotive fpr
parallel fuel rails
3" decat exhaust straight thru
2.7 bar map sensor
255 warlbro
Samoto cold air induction kit, inc heat shield
sti v2 engine at the moment
new coil packs
ss tubular exhaust manifold wrapped ( good ones from API!)
esl ecu
probably more, but you know what its like, bloody hard to remember!
any suggestions?, its off the road until Bob Rawle gets it on the 29th November
cheers

The 16g currently on the car is standard 90 inlet, so what are the advantages of doing the front entry mod to my phase 1 engine? i was just going to bolt on the front entry 20g with a samco 90 hose so to not have to do much other work, but i do have some manifold spacers so maybe a front entry mod could be done?, what is really involved or what is the easiest way of doing it?
thanks
thanks
I would say your definately missing an inlet pipe?? The MRT one is quality but it costs a lot more also I would say add an AVCR to help control boost better
If you are only running a 20g turbo reversing an inlet is far far away from your best acceleration mods
When I had my 20g turbo I only added to my existing mods an APS cold air kit and an MRT inlet pipe and the difference in acceleration once mapped was amazing, that was on an STI8 tmic as well
Unfortunately my gearbox broke within a WEEK

If you are going with a front entry turbo you will need to change to a phase 1.5 inlet manifold to allow your inlet pipe to run under the manifold.
The advice I have been given is that a rotated inlet manifold brings marginal gains but it creates a lot of space around the rear of the engine which certainly for my needs will be helpful. In terms of cost against gain its probably not worth it unless you can get it done cheaply.
Pennine subaru sell exchange rotated inlet manifolds.
Steve what power/torque and gearbox were you running when you killed it.
thanks
Archie

I'm looking into flipping the enty on my turbo.
I've done a mock lay out and I've got plenty of room for the induction pipe, and I didn't need to change to the phase 1.5 manifold, granted I'm using inlet spacer too, but there is loads of room.
I've mocked running the charge pipe to my FMIC along the chasis rail through the front just below the headlight, I didn't even need to go behind the wing. I've saved 3ft in pipe lenght.
I'm considering flipping the fmic too, to get the pips entering at te top to save even more lengh.
Its not a hard job, just need t remove and refit a lot of componets.

I agree with every one else reverse mounting the manifold is not worth the hassle. I didn't do it because I like the air.con, and I couldn't be bothered with all the hassle of eletric power steering units and the like to do both,
But if you do go ahead with it, its a bit pricey but this is a good company to use, my brother bought one and loved it;

Thanks for the replies guys,
Jiff, can you tell me what you did to be able to fit the front entry induction hose?, did you need to extend the maf wires?, does the hose foul on the cast water pipe on top of the block?, what thickness spacers did you use, any help would be much appreciated, i assume your car is a phase 1 like mine?, i would rather do this than make up a couple of samco's to replicate the 90 inlet, would like to get all the stuff together and get the job done
thanks
