What's the difference in A) performance? B) Cost? when compared to a walbro.
I'm running quite high fuel pressure at the moment and after my first walbro failed I'm looking for a more "safe" option.

The Walbro GS 342 is a 255 lph 6 bar pump. I don't know the flow or rated pressure for the 6 bar Bosch but I guess it flows more than the Walbro. It is bigger/heavier.
The 10 bar Bosch will give you loads of headroom for any Subaru application. There are at least two 044 pumps. 044 may be the frame or style number but is not the actual part number. If it is not marked Motorsport it is not the high flow 10 bar pump.

I'm currently running 4 bar stagnant and about 5.25 bar (ish) on full boost (1.4/1.5 bar). This was turned up quite a bit after running lean after rebuild. I understand that this is quite high and pushing the walbro to the limits. Walbro is maxed out and clearly unable to cope with the expected 5.4/5.5 bar. I am, however getting about 11.4 on the LM-1.
A 6 bar pump is more than enough for me so that's what I'll be going for. I reckon the 10 bar is overkill and in the current financial climate...
Are all Bosch 044 the same size? Fittings the same?
Many thanks

The one's on ebay links above will be fine. I've got the non motorsport 044 and will be running it at circa 550bhp.
My Walbro was ok at 450bhp but I wouldnt want to push it beyond that. I'm just using that as a lift pump now.

The Motorsport part number is 261 205413 and this is the 10 bar pump.
The fuel pressure is normally set at 'x' bar over ambient. IE. with the vacuum/boost pipe removed from the FPR. So for a setting of 3 bar which is not untypical the fuel pressure at 1 bar of boost should be 4 bar and at 2 bar of boost it should be 5 bar. If 4 bar is the ambient pressure setting which is pretty high, the fuel pressure should be 4 bar at zero boost, 5 bar at 1 bar of boost and 6 bar at 2 bar of boost.
Obviously a little head room is advisable.
Why is your fuel pressure set so high?

After my rebuild, the headers were ported (probably quite a bit taken off by Mr K - thanks). Only thing that has changes since Bob R mapped it (oh, and the engine rebuild, same pistons so compression should be the same). After first oil change to proper oil we took it out and it was running 12.5ish. Only thing we could do to make it safe was up fuel pressure. It needs remapping eventually, but needs new injectors as I believe the STi pinks are pretty much maxed out.
It's just the wrong time of year for such financial outlay...plus I work in automotive so things aren't exactly stable right now. Just want a cheap and cheerful option.
Driving it home last night it's running lean again, didn't get chance to look at fuel pressure gauge as I backed right off after seeing the AFR gauge.
Looking like 6 bar pump at the moment. Do you have any of these?

£110 is a good price. They are £135 list. Get it fitted sooner rather than later but contnue to keep a close eye on AFRs until you are confident they are safe.
Some of those doing mapping every day will comment but pinks are getting out of the comfort zone just over 400 bhp and we aborted one mapping session with pinks at what we estimated as 440 bhp.

Thanks Harvey. Will be my next upgrade...if I keep the car, but to be honest, I just want my car to be safe. I'll be driving off boost until the pump is fitted, already paranoid about it. I love the LC-1/DB Blue setup. Best £170 I've spent!
Will be keeping my eyes open for 750cc injectors in the new year!
