How many cats does a classic have

Just wondering how many cats a classic has? I have decatted the centre pipe and the downpipe but have seen that some have a cat in the up pipe as well?

Uk cars have 2, JDM cars have 1, uk has downpipe (as JDM) and a centre cat, where a JDM has a bypass/resinator box.

I think you will get some mixed answers here. My MY97 had one in the down pipe and one in the centre section aswell. AFAIK only newage had a cat in the up pipe though. HTH
