Hi guys i have recently bought a 2003 sti type uk which had been stood for nearly years. While in storage its gathered quite a few scratches (front wing and bonnet mainly). Was wondering how effective t cut or similar is and if a buffer would be a good idea. Some of them are quite deep.

Also the engine bay is filthy, ive read a post on here about someone who has jet washed there engine and made a real good job off it but im unsure weather its a good idea. Any places that could do it , steam clean etc?

dont think t cut will do you much good mate.thats what you really need. or if your not into the hardcore cleaning then get a pro in save the cost of the all the kit.

Do you know of any good companies around the yorkshire area? Also how come the kit is so dear, there are some good looking ones on ebay for around £40, not cheap halfords ones.

Pictures of defects will help with suggestions on rectificastion etc.

For your engine, I'd suggest trying an All Purpose Cleaner, Tesco's Daisy APC is quite good ay removing bonded dirt, grease, transport wax etc, dilute at 4 parts water to one part APC in a spray bottle, spray onto a cold engine and leave for 5-10 mins, agitate with a brush to remove stubborn stuff, rinse with a hose.
