Default fitting a short shift to the gear box

as above anyone fitted one ??
how hard is it ?
where does it fit inside or outside the car ?
any help appriciated.

its not that hard but its well fiddly lol

u hav to undo the clip at the bottom of the car just above the exhaust so that the shifter can be removed from the socket,,,

then you can unbolt the shifter and remove it so the other one can fit straight into the socket

put shifter on and replace pin to secure it

you might have to bend the metal back on the plate, you will know the plate im on about as when you change gear it will rub against it

Pretty easy job. Won't take more than 1/2 an hour.
Just make sure you have a set of circlip pliers before you start - unlike I did
An easy and worthwhile mod.

Easy, you don't need to go under the car its possible to remove from the top. The plate mentioned in post #2 can be unbolted and turned 180 degrees rather than bending.

Also try doing a search on fitting short shifter lots of 'how to' info out there...

as above Very easy to do from within the car 25/45 mins tops, dont over fill with grease when you reassemble is my only tip

When you have removed the old one, measure it up against the 'short' version. Some are actually longer than the originals
