Default Piston Slap on Version 3 Sti also??

Hiya I know that piston slap affected 97/98 Impreza turbos and wrx/sti as I recently asked here but does the v3 sti fall into this category or is it only the v4 that had the problem?
Cheers.

sti can have it as well!

if its not bad, then its not a problem

honestly i bought my 97 car about 6 years ago with 56kmiles on the clock, the engine "piston slapped"

last week the engine was taken out with 120kmiles on the clock to fit a 2.5

the engine still ran well without an issue, infact 25k miles back i had the crank replaced and while it was apart i was told not to bother even changing the pistons.

Thanks for your reply, was wondering though really did the v3 escape this as in its a 96/97 as opposed to the 97/98 engine?

My Version III STi 'slapped' like a good-un . That said I ran for 30k miles no problem and it was still running well when I part exchanged with 60k on the clock. It never worried me - it quietened down when warm and besides, I had a full de-cat to listen to

after doing just about 70k on a piston slap engine, i can vouch for them not having any problems, apart from the noise
