Unhappy Motor Neurone Disease - Your help gratefully received

I know, another thread on the scrounge for sponsorship.
Please if these threads bother you, just ignore it and move on.

I was in two minds whether to post on Scoobynet about a charity cycle my step sisters were doing two weeks ago...

Last August my father was diagnosed with MND ( MND Association - Homepage ). His condition had deteriorated significantly over the last few months and the support he and his wife has received from the MND Association has been amazing, he has required everything from hoists to specialist wheelchairs, equipment to communicate and machines to feed.
The organisation is very poorly funded by our government and rely heavily on donations from the public.

MND is a disease that essentially stops your mussels from working until your body shuts down. It starts with your hands, tongue, legs, neck and whilst this cruelest of diseases is destroying your body your mind stays perfectly fit and healthy but you are unable to do anything about it. There is no cure for MND.

My Step sisters decided to cycle from their home, north of Manchester to my Dad and their Mums home in Broadstone, Dorset, some 264 miles to try and raise money.
The speech machine alone costs in excess of £5000 and we had hoped to raise enough to get one more of these.
They completed their cycle on the 18th September and my Dad was able to welcome them home. Sadly, one week later he lost his battle and passed away.

I am posting this to firstly try to raise awareness of what has been described as possibly the most cruel disease but also to ask for any donations anyone feels they can offer no matter how small.

We have been overwhelmed by the response and have already raised over £8000 but we really want to help more.

I encourage you to visit the page on the Just Giving website we have set up.

Sorry to read that.

My cousin's BF suffered from MND. I don't know the whole story as he went a bit off the deep end and retired to Canary Islands. They broke up soon after....

I did a bike ride a few years ago for this guy.
