Question Diff Lock

Hi Guys,

I have a MY96 WRX which WAS an auto and has now had a manual conversion.

In the engine bay right at the bulkhead on the drivers side is a small black plastic cover which has Diff Lock written on it.

Does anyone know what it does or what it is for. I have spoken to a Scooby mechanic and he has never seen it before! Is it specific to the Auto's?

Help gratefully received

Thanks

Jason

Yup, this is only fitted to Auto's, so It won't have a function now

Iirc it is something to do with towing.

Auto's aren't proper 4x4, they are FWD with some rear power take off controlled by a clutch in the transmission, this is what that box is related to, not sure about Impreza's but Foresters you fit a fuse in and it defaults to FWD only for towing etc.
