Orange Peel
My Honda Civic has a very ripply paint finish, it's shiny but still orange peel textured. I've had the PC on it using Menzerna Intensive followed by Final Finish which has improved it dramatically, but it's still there. Will it ever polish out, or should I make do with "some" correction?
I am not the best to offer advice on detailling but when my sisters fiesta was delivered brand new it was all orange peeled
We rejected it and they gave her another car
Several weeks later it was back in the show room so I had a closer look and it was all gone. I asked what they had done and I was told totally wet sanded by a local ford detailing nut as a project for his forum [never found the article] but I have to say wet sanding frightens me but it worked on the fiesta

if it's single stage or in the clear coat the car can be wetsanded and polished back up with stunning results. although orange peel is caused by the application of too much paint too quickly it's still best to check paint thickness before wet sanding.
bmw are notorius for orange peel at the moment. however at least you know you've got plenty of paint on the car.

Sadly, a problem that is becoming ever more common; it was once mainly down to either overapplication or poor mixing of the paint, but these days the atomising spraying method used on many production lines is the chief cause. Whilst good for the environment, it produces massive orange peel, usually in all layers, meaning it can't be fully eradicated (for the reasons given above). Progress eh?
